G.I.JOE: THE RISE OF COBRAG.I.JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA

The Netherlands-based Film1.nl scored a trio of pics from the Cinema EXPO in Amsterdam [via] which features character shots of Ray Park as SNAKE-EYES, Sienna Miller as BARONESS and Channing Tatum as DUKE (click on individual link to view) ... and yes, seems that the full title for the G.I.Joe movie has been revealed to be .... G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA - which I think would be best served to exclaim with gusto, like *RRRRISE OF COOOOBBRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!* (inclusive of Cobra Commander's clench-fist waving in the air) - for maximum effect, 'natch ... and here's an added "bonus-pic" below from the prior Licensing show in New York (with image via picsmcgee.com) which unfortunately a post I've prepared for has lapsed - but I'm not one to waste any images innit? *cough*

...am not too sure, but I may have read somewhere that Cobra creates an underground digger-machine-thingie to threaten the Earth? was that for the movie? Or comic book? Or my senility gone walkabout? Dr Evil would be proud tho ... Quick! Someone say it's a display prop or I'll start shedding manly-tears! ... heh.

**some plot-points were revealed G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA

- "relationships between Baronness & Duke (who were once engaged!), Scarlett & Ripcord (a love-hate relationship), Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow (they have a history going back to when they were 10 years old)."

- Snake Eyes will be blocking Roadblock's efforts to swoon Scarlett. There will be lots of action, so the romances will not take the center stage.

- Cobra Commander will be in the movie.

- IDW is the new comic partner.

G.I. JOE RESOLUTE is an animated series published online aimed at kids, with a PG-13 type of animation, leading up to the movie. The show is written by Warren Ellis? Character designs were shown - which I have processed as well:

SIDESHOW TOYS 1/6 COBRA COMMANDER @ SAN DIEGO COMIC CON 2008

Sideshow Collectibles' 1/6-scaled COBRA COMMANDER blogged] made his debut @ SDCC and CoolToyReview has uber-sweet crips-pics of his Cobro-ness!

Have no issues with a molded-cowl, becoz frankly, a tailored-cloth one may be tricky to keep in place (you don't want to go off ironing a 1/6th-scaled cowl, do you? LOL) ... and so would his feature-film 1:1-counterpart be dressed in a similar fashion? *hhhmmmmm* ... altho the Cobra-cane be quite pimpin' ... LOL

SNAKE-EYES joins the Cobra Leader for the SDCC-Spotlight - loaded to bare:

... altho there's something about the tailored-mask that always leave s a "buldge" (becoz of hem-lines) ... perhaps folks can consider a "flocked" molded-headsculpt, for a tactile-parallel of cloth? IMHO, of coz :p ... GO PEEP CoolToyReview [all images via] for more Cobra & Snake-Eyes-goodness! (and higher-res images)

COMMANDO

Code Name: SNAKE EYES

Ninja, Commando, deadly force of nature... These terms merely scratch the surface of the enigma known as Snake Eyes.

Arguably one of the greatest assets to the GI Joe team, Snake Eyes' record of honor and valor cause even the most evil enemies to tremble with fear.

In his early military career, Snake Eyes proved himself time and again in combat, most notably during the rescue of his allies, wherein he sustained injuries to his face and vocal cords, costing him his voice. Donning a mask and face shield only added to the mystery of this silent soldier, known by many of his peers as "Classified." Later in life he would find himself fighting side by side with very the soldiers that he saved, as a member of America's Elite Fighting Force, G.I. Joe.

Snake Eyes has been trained by the very best of the best. The most elite of military specialists have molded him into the soldier he is today, making him proficient in almost all manner of small arms weaponry. Adding to his repertoire, he has fashioned his body into a living weapon under the watchful eye of some of the world's greatest martial artists, including the ninjitsu masters of the Arashikage Clan.

WHO IS COBRA COMMANDER?

... I've suddenly got this funny feeling that MOVIE-Cobra Commander will look like this Hasbro San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive figure [via] ... and man, I sure hope I'm utterly wrong tho! As "funny" as a battle-helmet may look on a live-person (IMHO), a rag draped over with holes cut-out would similarly be both ridiculous and perhaps even offensive - but of coz this is pure speculation on my part, yeh? Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the exhalted G.I.Joe nemesis (he looks sorta like a young Heath Ledger, dunt he?) and along with Destro, whose "final"-look may remain a mystery ... until an image-leak comes along, that is! LOL

"Not much is known of Cobra Commander's past, but in his early career he was a used car salesman. While struggling to keep his business afloat, he learned that a car crash had taken the life of his older brother, Dan, who had been driving drunk. Embittered by this tragedy, Cobra Commander became obsessed with vindicating his brother's death. He took specific interest in the surviving son of the family killed in the accident with Dan. That man was the soldier now known as Snake-Eye."
[Marvel Comics-origin]

"After the Marvel series ended, Cobra forces fell to a unified assault organized by the G.I. Joe leader, General Hawk. Cobra Commander managed to escape, becoming an international fugitive as the remnants of his organization retreated into hiding. He spent the next seven years sheltered in non-extradition countries, rebuilding his organization from the shadows." [Devil's Due-origins]
