HASBRO'S 12" COBRA COMMANDER REVIEWED & UNMASKED

Now, I've been totally behind on my coverage of G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra (some may say tis a good thing ;p) but lemme try to make it up with this video review by "Mister Clown" who unmasks Hasbro's 12 inch COBRA COMMANDER based on the movie character! Action Figure Insider first posted the video which is embedded above. *WARNING: CLICK-PLAY-FOR-SPOILER*

Somehow I can't help but feel the transparency element of the mask is japanese kaiju-vinyl influenced. Regardless, for US$15 it would make a pretty cool kitbash-fodder, yeh? IMHO, of coz :)

1/6 SNAKE-EYES PACKAGING BOX BY SIDESHOW TOY

SNAKE-EYES-BOXED

"The packaging for the G.I. Joe line emerged from a desire to show some respect to the 80’s Real American Hero packaging as well as giving it an injection of something new. Sideshow’s G.I. Joe line is a reflection of the classic RAH figures combined with current, authentic gear and weaponry. We wanted to attempt to represent the idea of these two worlds merging into the packaging. The packaging is the first thing the collector is going to see after cracking open that yellow shipping container, so we wanted the Joe-ness to start permeating at that point." - says Matt Bischof (one of the graphic artists behind Sideshow’s Joe’s 12-inch box art)

Sideshow Toys reveals the packaging box (complete with "permeating-Joeness") for their SNAKE EYES 12 inch figure [TAGGED] - as well as the concept behind it's design inception. Read & peep more via Sideshow's Production Blog :)

THE RISE OF COBRA SUPER BOWL TV SPOT

Comingsoon.net debuts the official teaser trailer for G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra online (Super Bowl Spot) featuring more big-bang-action from director Stephen Sommers ... hell, I'm pumped up for more! Screengrabs forthcoming - meanwhile, enjoy:

I really wanna see more before commenting tho ... meanwhile before the "official" trailer hits this weekend U.S.-time - here be some screengrabs AND personal commentary (altho I still can't get the darned slideshow to present in order of my placement gggrrrr).

Decent armor-detailing, IMHO... please don't let the toys suck, please don't let the toys suck! And I'm talking about the 12 inch figures. I don't really care much for the other scales (becoz I've no history with them myself *sobs*). And if anyone does expansion uniform sets? Sans bodies? ARMY-BUILDING-TIME! muahahahaha - finances be damned!

Personally speaking (regardless of comicbook origins or logic) I would have hoped Snake-Eyes was more of a covert-operative, ya know? Not a bouncing-about on a public city-street making all those ninja-moves for all and sundry to peep at, in broad-blardy-daylight, innit? Fair enough I know not the circumstance surrounding this particular scene, but a full-faced-covered dude with samurai-swords down the back doesn't necessarily equate: "He's one of the Good Guys. Let's Trust Him With Our Meaningless Lives", innit? ... But hey, that's just me. heh.
